The blue depths of the Adriatic Sea are home to about 220 bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). After the extinction of the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus) and the common dolphin (Delphinus delphis), they are the only mammals living in our sea.
The main activity of our Association is researching the life of bottlenose dolphins. We conduct a great number of scientific research projects; we are working on popularization and education as well as the foundation of a Center for Research and Protection of Sea Mammals. Our only goal is to preserve bottlenose dolphins and assure their survival in the Adriatic Sea.
Each sea mammal observed in the Adriatic Sea is important to us.
Send us information on the animal you have seen, time and location, and help us in completing our research on their distribution.
Please inform us immediately of every unusual incident, particularly if you find an injured, stranded or dead bottlenose dolphin at any time of the day or night by phone +385/95/9022610 or +385/95/9022613, and by email sos.dupin@val-nature.hr
In order to receive the best possible description of your observations, we have prepared a form that you can fill out online or print out and return to us by mail.
